Sega can be traced all the way back to a company based in Honolulu, Hawaii called "Service Games", which started in 1940 (SErvice GAmes, hence the name SEGA).

During the 1960's they were a manufacturer of "electro-mechanical games", which are coin operated machines such as: pinball machines, strength testers, ski-ball, etc. Since the early 1970's, Sega has been a pioneer in video game production and development. From arcades, to home consoles, to handhelds Sega has had a long journey in terms of hardware. Their efforts have been appreciated by millions of fans.

Sega also has a long list of developed and published games from over the last several decades. Some of their hits include: Sonic the Hedgehog, Virtua Fighter, Daytona USA, Shinobi, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and many more.
